Bali Trip #2

We went to the Bebek Tepi Sawah which recommended by my brother in law. We ordered crispy duck rice and pork rib for tea time. We actually finished our lunch 2hrs ago before we heading to Bebek tepi sawah. We actually quite full after lunch but since we passby the Ubud we asked the tour guide bring us here. He also scratched his head as we finished our lunch not long ago. hahaha. We just finished the meat not with the rice cos our stomach cannot keep anymore storage. We skipped our dinner cos too full until 10pm we ordered pizza from the hotel. :oP. This restaurant is facing the padi field. Quite nice. I enjoy the food more on the view. :oP

Bali Trip Part 1

Finally, I went to Bali in June after 4yrs break from travelling. Initially, me and my husb thought of going to Macau but as it was last minute planned, the budget to Macau isn't cheap so we decided to go Bali. This was my first back packing trip, actually it was quite fun and stress free compare to follow the group tour. At least, i can wake up anytime as i can and i can decided which place to go or not to go with the local tour guide.

I always thought Bali is a typical muslim country, I never thought they do serve pork like bali guling everywhere. Before i go, my colleague and friends told me that the place not nice and the food is not good. But i found it was quite interesting and the food is fine to me especially i like pork.

Babi guling with white radish soup..YUMMY!

I omitted Uluwatu cos I'm scared of wild monkey which i had do researched earlier that the monkey there are quite aggressive. When we met the local tour guide, i told him that i don't want to go to Monkey forest or any place with wild monkey..haha. I even wear contact lense (after few years stopped of wearing lenses) just in case the tour guide really bring us there in order to avoid monkey from snatching my spec.

I would like to share some photos here.

Stir-fry Dried Anchovy with Pickled Radish

Another Hakka dish that i cooked last week. I remember my mom cook this kind of dish when i was small.
It is nice to serve with porridge.

The recipe adapted from the book "Hakka an Inspiring Collection of Hakka Foods"

30g fermented salted black beans
1 red chillies (chopped)
2tbsp chopped spring onion
1tbsp chopped garlic

Seasoning :
1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
1tbsp sugar

Method:
1. Soak pickled radish in the water to reduce the saltiness, rinse and diced.
2. Deep-fry anchovy in the hot oil over high heat until slightly crispy, drain well.
3. Stir-fry pickled radish in the hot wok without oil until dry and aromatic, set aside.
4. Heat up 1tbsp oil in the wok to saute garlic until fragrant. Add in pickled radish, fermented black beans, chillies and seasoning, stirring constantly over high heat until well combined. Add spring onions and fried anchovy, toss well. Serve at once.

Back to school

We have been invited back to school for those who are graduated from year 1991. Thanks to the organizer, the former schoolmate who had arranged this gathering event in June. We had a precious moment that we met back all our old classmate after 20years. The funny thing is we recognized the face but can't remember the name so we always stared at people chest where the name badge was there. :o) Some of us like me forgot the class name. And we are not allow to put English name as we only remember the full name.

This is the canteen, we all preferred the old wooden long table and benches. Now is like McD's table hahaha.

This is the toilet. Last time no picture on the wall. Now like penjara pudu..Last time the toilet quite small.

30 Minutes Meal #1

Last time, I didn't always cook dinner on the weekday . I used to take dinner outside after picked up my daugh from the school. Because of bored of eating outside I have started to cook dinner lately. Although it is a bit tedious for me after worked have to pick my daugh from school and have to prepared dinner. So everyday I have to think about the quick and easy recipe. I will sometimes cook anchovies noodle soup, boiling soup while shower my daugh, steamed meat and rice together which save a lot of time.

Cocoa butter cake

I have been craving for choc cake  last few weeks until last sat i decided to bake a cocoa butter cake. I got the recipe from Nasilemaklover's blog. I love to read her blog with full of nasi lemak recipes. I have been bookmarked some recipes just to wait for my time to get ready to do it. The cake smell very nice with the light coffee aroma. I have to bake for 40-45mins maybe due to my small oven instead of 30mins from the original recipe.
